So yesterday we founded our brand new 2v2 team and had our first two matches. We that is Yashima, Restoration Druid and Tenobaal, Marksmanship Hunter. Our team is named “Sonntagsfahrer” for lack of a better idea. This translates to “Sunday Drivers” – a term that in German designates people who drive badly because they are supposedly only driving on week-ends. Since we are only starting with Arena it seemed fitting and was as good as all the other ideas we had which were actually close to none at all.
We had 2 matches. The first was against two Shamans. Ouch. One of them was healing the other looked like Enhancement. I got to heal a lot but then suddenly Teno was gone … he had tried to kill the Melee Shaman. Well we lost. But it was a first match …
The second match was against a Priest and a Warlock. We might have had a chance at winning that. Except the Priest never went down and the Warlock pet kept me quite busy. We should have gotten rid of the pet first, then the Priest. I managed to heal both of us quite a bit and keep the Warlock busy. I used a lot of mana and needed an Innervate half way through. Teno got mad though because everytime he had the Priest to 10% he would heal himself back up to full while he was feared.
Well those were only two matches 
This week I’ll be getting my Arena Points from our 3v3 matches last Friday. We did win some of them though often I’d get focus fired and not get to heal a lot. I hope I’ll finally have enough points for the S3 chest. I would be really really good to have that as we are going to Gruul before the next points and I could so use that chest.
I seem to be having name-creation-block. I have been thinking about a possible name for a 2v2 arena team for about three days now. I am hoping to convince Teno to make a team with me. My 2v2 has not been happening as my current Arena partner and I do not have the same online times right now.
So anybody got a good idea what to name an Arena team consisting of a Druid and a Hunter? We’re night-elves, both of us. Potentially I’ll add Thalya to the equation to get her a few Arena Points, too. If Teno’s Priest ever makes 70 we’d have a Holy/Disc priest to add to the team.
Just can’t think of anything.
Some time has passed since I last managed to get together a group for some Arena play. Last night I actually tried to get our 5vs5 team going. We ended up doing 3vs3. I find smaller brackets more fun. Now I once more have 3 teams.
The other two already had a 3vs3 team and invited me to it. We did surprisingly well I dare say, considering all the negative factors:
- random team set up (Feral Druid, Moonkin and Shadow Priest/Mage)
- no healer
- no experience playing Arena together
- no resilience gear
Still we managed to win 4 out of our 10 games. I think the Shadow Priestess is better equipped than her Mage alt, we won the games in which she played her Priestess.
I’ll try to remember some of the teams we faced
- 2x Hunter (1 BM, 1 other) and Shadow Priest
- Warrior, Priest, Mage
- Mage, 2x Rogue
Most of the teams we faced did not have a dedicated healer just like ours. We won several games against the 2xHunter team and we lost just as many against that team. I rarely managed to use my crowd control. I prefer playing Arena as a healer, I am much more effective that way and so I am glad I plan on respeccing to Resto anyway for Zul Aman.
In one game I managed to Cyclone the Priest and root the Warrior while my team mates went after the third. If I had been a Healer I could have kept on using crowd control and healed up the others at the same time. As a cat I am not really doing my job when I get out of range of my victims 
My damage is not high enough to burn down anyone fast enough.
So the rating stays just around 1300. Which is ok. After all we have no gear and no practice and the rating was already down a bit from 1500.
Last night we did our first 5v5 games with the new team. We even won 1 of 10 games. Considering none of us has any resilience/PvP equip, we only started using me as second healer after 5 games and most of us had never done 5v5 before, we did ok. The weird thing is we faced only 3 different teams for our 10 games. Which is helpful on the one hand in having knowledge about their play, but so do they and knowing we lost before …
I find 2v2 a lot easier, less people leads to less confusion for me. Plus my 2v2 partner has a lot of arena experience and the last 2v2 games I was still specced healing and I do a lot better in PvP healing than anything else.
In a 2v2 team it is also much easier to see who failed at what and learn from that. 5v5 it is much harder to see what is happening. We rarely managed focus fire and most often did not get their healer down fast enough while trying to protect our healers.
Btw our group consisted of a Holy Pala, Warlock, Mage, Moonkin and me – a feral druid in healing gear with feral weapon.
I was finally able to found the 5v5 team that I had a charter for in my inventory since last summer. I found out that there is a lot of interest in the guild for 5v5. Now I made some “rules” for that team and described them in an FAQ
F: Who is the boss?
A: Yashima
F: What rating will the team strive to achieve?
A: Maximum fun rating! Which does not mean we will plan on losing.
F: How do I become a team member?
A: Whisper Yashima, as long as there are open spots you get an invite.
F: How do I leave the team?
A: “/teamquit 5v5″ and please notify Yashima
F: When are the games going to be?
A: We’ll try to have one event each week. The date will be announced on the forum each tuesday.
F: Do I need a certain talent spec?
A: No.
F: Are you going to kick players, who are not there for the event?
A: If there are people hoping to join I may ask players who are currently not participating to give up their spot for someone else.
F: What happens if I don’t have time for this week’s event?
A: Well then you don’t have time. If you signed up and cannot come and don’t tell us beforehand some people may be pissed.
F: I am a noob, can I join?
A: We are a noob-free team 
What kind of noob are you admitting you are a noob?
F: What’s the name “The Campers” for?
A: Well we do camp the arena, right? (Actually I have the picnic table from the loot card and we are going to go camping a bit)
F: I just need a few arena points this week … can you help me?
A: If we have a free spot, no problem. Otherweise you may ask someone who is on the team to lend you his spot. If there is any drama about this I will put a stop to it!
F: So how is it going for the team?

So much for what I plan on doing with the team I hope it will work out ok and not prove a lot of work or cause drama. I want it to be an open team giving those players a chance that currently have a PvE spec to help the guild or those who just cannot find a spot on other arena teams.
